Like many guitar students (back in the 80s -yikes!) I too felt the frustration building as questions piled up for next week's lesson. And so when I founded The Guitar Dojo in 2018 it was with a hybrid approach: personal guidance meets smart tech. Weekly private lessons but with interactive online tabs and a gamified app for content, messaging and 7 day per week support.
When COVID hit, our school was locked down just as we were getting started. But it soon became clear that our hybrid philosophy worked just as well online – retaining 90% of our students over 2 years in Melbourne (the world's most locked down city.) This online success planted the seeds of what would become Guitar Kickstart.
We also kept hearing from busy professionals, parents and retirees: eager for lessons but blocked by rigid schedules, high costs or life in general. Those chats added to our vision for the ultimate guitar learning ecosystem for all.
In 2026, after many thousands of lessons and hundreds of successful students, Guitar Kickstart was born. Delivering real support and interactive tools to the time poor majority that traditional methods overlook. Convenient but without compromise. Affordable. Tailored to your busy life.
